Blu Cigs Review

Blu Cigs reviewBlu electronic cigarettes have seen some remarkable changes in the last few years. Abandoning their 3-part design and changing the ingredients of the e-juice, which once included propylene glycol and glycerin, Blu Cigs now uses a two-part design and a USP grade glycerin for its juice. Although the changes have been made, Blu Cigs isn’t the best product on the market as the cartridges and batteries don’t last. Price is a above average as well, though they offer free shipping and promise a 30-day money back guarantee.

What Does Blu Cigs Offer

– Price Of Starter Kit – $69.95 – $89.95
– Price Of Cartridges – $12 for five pack; purchase four 5-packs and you’ll receive them for $9.60 apiece.
– 7 Flavors – Menthol, Classic Tobacco, Cherry, Java Jolt, Vanilla, Pina Colada and Peach Schnapps
– 4 Nicotine Levels from zero to 16mg

A Look At Blu Cigs Electronic Cigarettes

Blu Cigs was already a popular brand on the market… for quite some time! However, at the start of 2011, the company decided to make some significant changes. Going with a two-piece design, they came up with the Premium Pack Social Feature, which produces lots of vapor and has longer-lasting batteries.

Since they’re not using the propylene glycol, the juice quality has increased. 100 percent of the juice, which uses USP-grade glycerin, is produced in the United States. The cartridges have been patented to generate more smoke-like vapor and come in seven flavors – you’re sure to find something to your liking. There are four nicotine levels – 16mg full flavored cartridges, 12mg light nicotine, 8mg Ultra-Light nicotine and 0mg, which has NO nicotine in it. These cartridges tend to last an entire pack of regular cigarettes.

Features Of The Premium Pack Social Cigarette

Switch to shut off the social features if you don’t feel like being sociable
Pack and battery charge levels have LED status indicators
No-screw design; just snap the battery in and charge
Extend life and optimal charge of the battery with the smart charging
Blue light in the front denotes charging

Premium Pack Social Cigarette Starter Kit – $79.95

You can get this premium pack social starter kit in either black or white color. With the kit, you’ll receive:

– Blu Premium Pack w/ Social Features
– Blu Premium wall and USB chargers
– 2 Premium/Original e-cigarette batteries
– 5-pack of electronic cigarettes with your choosing of flavor and strength

Blu Cigs offers both a 30-day and one year money back guarantee.

The new e-cigs from Blu cigs are completely different from the older product. And, the newer design is certainly an improvement but sadly not enough (batteries and cartridges don’t last). Keep in mind though that it’s also a bit more expensive than other brands. Customer service, unfortunately, is not all that good and issues with shipping can crop up. Still, it may be an option if you like their flashy social features. And Blu produces a really good amount of vapor as well.

I tried NJOY but had a hard time finding replacement cartridges without going online. So in between I bought a BLU starter kit and 5 cartridges.

First of all, they give you a variety pack with the starter kit. So you do get some. So that’s a plus. Starter kit is expensive though about $60. I went to Walgreen’s which is a major chain that carries it. However they don’t tell you that there’s a 100’s starter kit available for ten dollars more. Sadly Walgreen’s only carries the Kings.

Blu is cagey about whether 100s and Kings cartridges are interchangeable and I don’t want to wast hundreds of dollars buying both and then having to buy more cartridges so I ended up with the Kings and a pack of 5 full flavor cartrdiges on top of that.

The variety pack gives you plenty of flavor choices. However some flavors are just weak and the cartridges run out fast.

The full flavor and cherry flavors last the longest. The rest are iffy.

Okay on to the rest of this. The battery life is abysmally dismal. To say the batteries suck would be a compliment. The batteries are made in China and the quality or lack thereof proves it without even reading the label.

I puff about 200 puffs a day on the far outside. Closer to about 125 by my last count today.

You get two batteries but you really need 3. I takes 3 charges a day. At least. And that was for 125 puffs. So I got somewhere around 40 puffs per charge. That’s bullshyte! Yes they give you a pack that you can charge on the go, good for six charges. Reality check here: I shouldn’t have to keep wondering about charging batteries all day. And you have to unscrew the battery once its through charging or else the battery starts recharging the pack you use to charge it with.

The charger pack which looks like a pack of cigarettes, has a blue LED on the side. This freakin LED will blind you. I swear its so bright it will literally burn your retinas. If you pointed it at a jetliner the Feds would bust your ass for it. That’s how bright that LED is! Anyway, its a pain in the butt. So while you’re charging the light’s shooting out the side of your pocket and people, including the cops, notice.

Finally, though cherry and full flavor do last and are satisfying, inhaling and vaping takes a lot of inhalatory strength. I mean vaping is like sucking air through a cocktail or coffee stir straw. If vaping out of an NJOY is like smoking through a bic pen, vaping through a BLU is like vaping through a straw about 1 mm inner diameter. If you want a full, satisfying rich tasting vape, yes, you have to work hard for it. Definitely not a substitute for a Galoise or a Camel non-filter.

Replacement cartridges are about $15.00 for a pack of 5, more a other retailers that resell what they buy at Walgreen’s.

Pros: (1) available at Walgreens, a nationwide chain (2) cheap replacement cartridges; (3) variety of flavors; and (4) comes with portable charging pack to recharge crappy abysmally dismal batteries.

Cons: (1) batteries suck royally. They have no life whatsoever. They die fast and very hard; (2) variety of flavors only have two robust flavors, the rest are weak and empty out fast; (3) 100’s and Kings are probably not interchangeable; (4) vaping requires deep inhalations and a lot of work. Its not a smooth vape whatsoever; (5) website for BLU is not very informative about these issues either; (6) LED on the side of the charger pack will blind you, and, probably get you arrested.

Recommendation is that if you buy this system, make sure to get a couple starter kits with lots of batteries. I would recommend the 100s as they are reputed to have longer battery life. Also get a bunch of extra USB chargers and a powered USB expansion bus, you’ll need them. And get some thick, black electrical tape to put over the LED on the side.

The carts seem to last as advertised if not better than. Battery life can be a problem but if your vaping heavy and using up a battery before the other is fully charged you’ll have problems. From my experience I’m getting much more than other users 40 puffs a battery. Definitely not the greatest but i have no complaints with the price for the starter kit and the included 5 carts. I enjoy the portable charging unit that hold the batteries and carts. Makes it very easy for on the go vaping over an entire day away from the house. Satisfies so far with my blu.

Bought the new refill cartridges with 3 tanks per box. The new “improved” classif flavor sucks!!!! They obviously have cheap with their ingredients. Classic now tastes like crap! It was the only reason I bought Blu!!! I’m now done! Too many disapointments and too much money wasted on duds!

I WAS an avid “vaper” with Blu cigs. But not anymore. Their new tanks LEAK! They leak in the box. They leak when attached to a battery. If you leave your pack lying down instead of standing it up….They LEAK! I actually got physically ill from swallowing too much juice from a cartridge I should have thrown away. Since I have some of the original cartridges, I am using those instead. It seems that Blu has lost its quality control. I hope that Blu does not intend to stop making the original cartridges. Because that will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Customer Service for Blu is awesome. They advised that I keep the leaking cartridges so I can send them back for replacement. The thing is, I can’t be sure that the replacements won’t leak just as bad. And since I would be saving on average 1 to 2 cartridges per box, I would be constantly sending them back! I imagine that would get old very quickly.

I love the packs because you can recharge your battery. But it takes so long for the pack to recharge a battery, I have to use the individual cig battery recharger attachment. From what I can tell from the website, the individual battery rechargers are no long available. Bummer.

Since it will be a while before I will even come close to buying a different e-cig, I will use the time to research other top name e-cigs and hopefully find some comparable to all the benefits that Blu offers with their packs especially with all their great benefits.

But I will no longer try smoking the tanks I have on hand. I don’t know how toxic that juice is and I have already swallowed enough of that already.
